Throughout all its work, THI employs Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) principles.
In CBPR, community-based organizations (CBOs) or civic groups serve as partners in the research
process by:
1) helping recruit participants and getting the word out,
2) using their knowledge of the community to understand health problems and to design activities
to improve healthcare (interventions), and
3) connecting community members directly with how the work is done, immediate consequences,
and possible outcomes. CBPR requires forging strong partnerships with gatekeepers in the target population community.
THI already has established relationships with the following groups:
- Public and Private Provider Groups
- Chambers of Commerce / Business & Industry
- Community health worker organizations
- Payers
- Consumers and their families
- Policy-makers and other decision-makers
- Faith-based organizations
- Media markets and outlets
