CDC — Integrated Pest Management Courses Online
CDC’s Environmental Health Services Branch and the National Environmental Health Association have offered between 2 and 4 in-person “Biology & Control of Vectors and Public Health Pests: The Importance of IPM” since 2006. Renowned IPM experts, environmental health professionals, entomologists, and pest management professionals have delivered the course through a series of lectures, activities, demonstration components, and exercises over three days.
Through a cooperative agreement between CDC and the National Network of Public Health Institutes, THI and its course hosting and evaluation partner TSPHTM, were selected through a competitive process to transition the content to a curriculum of 15 courses. An important reason for THI/TSPHTM’s selection includes longitudinal assessment of the practitioner’s application of the new knowledge in their local environment and the results from this application. A continuous improvement process will also be integrated in the instructional design model to contribute to ongoing course improvement and delivery.
