Our Expertise
Behavioral HealthWe work to improve behavioral health care and access in Texas to advance the health of all. Through the Texas Primary Care Consortium we work to integrate mental health and substance use services into primary care. We also produce research and evaluation on behavioral health through our health equity projects. Community HealthThe diverse landscape of Texas requires paying careful attention to the unique needs of local communities while offering opportunities for regional collaboration to address common health needs across jurisdictions. Through research and technical assistance we support communities in understanding unmet needs, emerging trends, assets, and opportunities. GenomicsWe administer the eight-state Mountain States Regional Genetics Network which ensures that individuals with heritable disorders and their families have access to quality care and appropriate genetic expertise through facilitating a network of genetics clinics, primary care practices, consumer advocates, and state health department resources. Health EconomicsBy studying current laws, regulations, policies, and processes, we can examine the intersection between health and economics within health systems, communities, cities, states, or nationwide. Transgender HealthTransgender Texans face many challenges, including a high incidence of suicide attempts. We believe efforts to reduce suicidality must include improving access to gender-affirming care free from bias and discrimination. By facilitating research, educating medical providers, and advocating for affirming policies, we work to ensure that transgender Texans can obtain medical care without fear or stigma. Oral HealthWe believe that oral health is an integral and essential part of overall health and wellbeing. Our team employs upstream strategies centered on improving oral health across the lifespan. Primary CarePrimary care, when prioritized in the health system, results in people living longer lives with more equitable outcomes. Through the Texas Primary Care Consortium we facilitate collective action to advance equitable, comprehensive, and sustainable primary care for all Texans. Veterans’ HealthThose who have served continue to face unique health challenges and needs. Our goal is to improve veterans’ health by informing policies with actionable data and insights that compare the broader health of men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces to civilians. |
